GridBright has recently been contracted by Con Edison and Orange & Rockland (O&R) Utilities, both regulated operating companies of Consolidated Edison, Inc. (NYSE: ED) as the systems integrator for the integration between Con Edison’s Oracle OMS and Silver Spring Networks’ AMI.

Thomas Langlois, project manager at Con Edison stated, “GridBright’s extensive utility experience will help ensure this project delivers industry leading outage management systems that support excellent customer service and operational excellence.”

OMS applications are used by utilities to assist with the outage restoration process. Integration between OMS and AMI brings near real-time meter information to OMS, providing distribution operators with improved visibility into outages, enabling an enhanced restoration process.

GridBright’s Con Edison project team is comprised of specialists who have been involved in hundreds of utility systems integration projects around the globe. They have extensive experience in integrating OMS with AMI and other utility computer systems including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Mobile Workforce Management (MWM), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems (DERMS), Damage Assessment applications and more.

Tom Servas, GridBright senior vice president remarked, “This project is a perfect fit for GridBright. As grid specialists, we’re tightly aligned with Con Edison and focused on meeting their specific project goals. By leveraging GridBright’s expertise, Con Edison is delivering value to customers.”

This effort is the first phase of the multi-year OMS integration project that will roll out in 2018 to coincide with the ongoing multi-year deployment of smart meters under Con Edison’s AMI project. The integration between OMS and AMI will provide a critical foundation for future phases of the project.
